The Baltimore County Police Department unveiled its newly designed patrol vehicle on June 30 — the first significant change to the appearance of the department’s marked vehicles in more than 30 years.
The design was developed with input from officers and improves the visibility and recognizability, according to a June 30 police department press release.
Among the most noticeable changes are greater emphasis on the words “Police” and “Baltimore County” and the color scheme. Technology enhancements include upgraded in-car computers and other equipment intended to support officers in the field.
Officials say the updated design reflects a commitment to officer safety, innovation, and service to the community. The newly marked vehicles, many of which will be assigned to officers through the Department’s Assigned Vehicle Community Presence Program, are expected to be on the streets throughout the county in the coming weeks.
