Community Walk/Run for Wellness Sept. 7
The Stevenswood Improvement Association and LifeBridge Health are sponsoring a Community 5K Run/Walk for Wellness on Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Northwest Regional Park in Owings Mills. Check-in is from 8 to 8:45 a.m., a brief warm-up will follow, then the walk/run begins on a partially shaded trail. Online registration continues through Aug. 31. Free Randallstown Concert Sept. 5
The Liberty Live! 2014 family-friendly outdoor concert series will an encore concert event on Friday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Kings Point Square in Randallstown, rain or shine. The Liberty Road Business Association is sponsoring the free event, which will feature vendors, food and soft drinks for purchase.
Reisterstown Concerts
Every Friday, until Aug. 29, the Reisterstown Improvement Association is hosting free live concerts from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in front of Franklin Middle School at Cockeys Mill Road in Reisterstown. Aug. 22 is a rain makeup date for any concerts that may have been cancelled due to weather, but a performances is scheduled for Aug. 29.
Message on Health
Tavon Mason, former wide receiver for the New York Jets and an alum of Woodlawn High School alum, read stories to school age children on Monday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Woodlawn Library. He also shared his message about the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle for all children and their families from his new book, “The 60-A-Day Promise, A Guide to a Healthier Lifestyle and Family.” Mason signed autographs after the reading. The event is part of the Tavon Mason Loves the Kids Foundation.
Summer Concert at Amphitheater
The Lurman Woodland Theatre in Catonsville is the amphitheater venue for outdoor concerts, held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in August. Shows that are part of the summer concert series are free. Musical styles range from barbershop to bluegrass, rock to reggae, and country to Cajun.
Catonsville Concert
The Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Frederick Road Fridays concert series in front of the Shops on Mellor. Different nonprofit groups work with the Chamber each week to help set up, run and clean up after the event and receive a share of the proceeds from beer and wine sales. Admission is free, and the music ranges from classic rock to funk, blues and even bluegrass.
