Five Baltimore County agencies have been awarded eight 2014 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo), including a Best in Category award for a Department of Aging initiative that focuses on improving the overall lives of senior citizens. County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will present executive citations to department heads and their staff members who contributed to these programs, which have been designated by NACo as national models. The recognized agencies include:
- Department of Aging for Strengthening Lives – Best in Category
- Administrative Office, County Council and Office of Information Technology (jointly) for SharePoint – Environment Stabilization and Council Action Request Redesign
- Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability for Cool Trees: Reducing Long-Term Energy Costs by Planting Trees
- Office of Information Technology and Baltimore County Public Schools (jointly) for OIT Data Center co-Location
- Police Department and Office of Information Technology (jointly) for Online Reporting – Shoplifting
- Police Department and Office of Information Technology (jointly) for Police Field Based Reporting
- Department of Public Works for Single Stream Recycling Materials Recovery Facility
- Department of Social Services for SHAPE – Process Model Implementation
