Baltimore County’s budget town halls are back. With the state of Maryland facing an estimated $6.2 billion budget deficit for fiscal year 2026, and an anticipated reduction in federal funds, the county is confronted with critical decisions on how to fund it budget priorities.
The town halls are being led by recently appointed County Executive Kathy Klausmeier and Finance Director Kevin Reed and held in each of the seven councilmanic districts. County officials say the forums are designed to give residents an opportunity to provide input into the budget planning process for FY2026, which begins July 1, 2025. The respective council members for the district will also be present.
The town hall for District 1 (Windsor Mill, Catonsville, Arbutus) is scheduled for Feb. 6 at the Community College of Baltimore County; the town hall for District 2 (Pikesville, Woodlawn and parts of Owings Mills) will be held 19 at Bedford Elementary School; and the town hall for District 4 (Randallstown, Reisterstown and parts of Owings Mills) is scheduled for March 12 at the Randallstown Community Center.
Each meeting will be held in two parts:
- During the community cabinet open house from 6 to 7 p.m., county departments will host individual tables where residents can directly engage department leadership about individual issues and concerns, learn about resources, and share suggestions.
- The FY2026 budget presentation will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Attendees will learn about the county’s budget process and share priorities with County Executive Klausmeier and senior leadership.
The meetings will be held in-person and livestreamed on Baltimore County Government’s YouTube page.
