Anthony Janey, a special education paraeducator at Pikesville Middle School, has been named Education Support Professional of the Year by the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA).

Janey was considered for the statewide honor after being named Paraeducator of the Year by Education Support Professionals of Baltimore County, a local affiliate of MSEA, in April. The organization cited Janey’s “consistent enthusiasm, felt by students and staff,” work on various committees and task forces, and collaborative approach to helping student achieve success.

Prior to joining the Pikesville Middle School staff, Janey served in that same role at Campfield Elementary School for 12 years. He founded the Our Children Matter Corporation, a nonprofit providing community outreach and support to local youth.
