With the redistricting of the northwest comes a new political club, the New District 44B Democratic Club.
At its first meeting on Sept. 6, club members elected officers: Aaron Barnett is president, Del. Emmett Burns Jr. is first vice president; Carroll Watkins is second vice president; Cheryl Williams is treasurer; and Fatima Smith is secretary.
“We want to be an active, thriving club that will push the goals and objectives of the Democratic Party,†Barnett said. The club will meet quarterly at Rising Sun Baptist Church in Woodlawn.
