The Board of Education of Baltimore County elected David Uhlfelder, a certified public accountant and Pikesville resident, as its president. Charles McDaniels, Jr., a steel sales and technical consultant, is the board’s vice president.
Board members choose their new leaders during the board’s annual election of officers last month. Officers serve a one-year term beginning each year with the July board meeting.
Uhlfelder, who served as board’s vice president the previous fiscal year, said that he was “very humbled” to assume the presidency and described the current board as “the most constructive board we’ve ever had,” according to a Baltimore County Public Schools statement. He began his second five-year term on the board in 2013. Uhlfelder is a member of the board of directors for the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce.
McDaniels, who was appointed to the board in 2011, added that he looks forward to helping the board become “more responsive” and “more data-driven.”
Danielle Maduka, the newest board member, is resident of Windsor Mill and a rising senior at Western School of Technology and Environmental Science in Catonsville. She is involved in the school’s Students Against Destructive Decisions chapter, Future Healthcare Providers Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and varsity lacrosse.
