A 60-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Randallstown, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
On July 14, at approximately 4:45 a.m., officers responded to the area of Liberty and Old Court roads for a reported crash involving a pedestrian. When they arrived, officers found John Bates Sr., suffering from life-threatening injuries. Bates was flown to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Police say a preliminary investigation determined that Bates was attempting to cross Liberty Road when he was struck by a 2025 Hyundai Elantra traveling eastbound. The driver of the Elantra initially left the scene but returned a short time later.
Members of the department’s crash team are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this crash.
